Updates from your Yahoo friends will be displayed in Y! updates window. This includes their social media activity from Twitter, Facebook and others , status messages and blogs. For this you need to customize your Yahoo profile and add services . There is an option to set status message on Yahoo Messenger itself with a link if required.  This is different from old busy-away-available status messages, and it will appear on friend’s Y! updates time line.
